Severe weather threat closes, delays some schools

The threat of severe weather and flash flooding has closed or delayed several school systems in the area today.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until noon for all of Western Kentucky and northern Middle Tennessee, including Christian and all adjoining counties. Stay tuned for any potential warnings this morning.

Christian, Trigg, Montgomery and Stewart County schools are closed and Trigg County Schools are using NTI Day No. 4. Fort Campbell Schools are also closed.

Christian County Public Schools had initially been on a delay, but Assistant Superintendent Josh Hunt says they decided to close as the severe threat persisted and some reports of high water started to come in in the region.

Hunt stresses that this is not an NTI day and students will not have to make it up at the end of the year.

Officials say decisions on after-school activities will be communicated later depending on the impacts of the weather.
