Lawmakers head into Week 3 of General Assembly session

The third week of the 2023 session of the Kentucky General Assembly begins Monday and local lawmakers have their eye on some key pieces of legislation.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says he’s sponsoring legislation that would require mental health treatment facilities to grant minors access to their parents when they are admitted, regardless of any remaining COVID protocols.

Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County is hopeful his online consumer privacy legislation will receive a hearing in committee this week and believes it’s long overdue.

Representative Walker Thomas says he has a meeting of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee to start the week, and he expects to see movement on school-focused bills.

Lawmakers are set to be in Frankfort through Friday this week.
