Shop and Share event is Saturday to benefit Sanctuary, Inc.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and Sanctuary, Inc. is putting out the word to speak with the teen in your life about appropriate relationship values and boundaries.

Appearing on WHOP Wednesday morning, Sanctuary Director Heather Lancaster and Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator Zirconia Vansauwa say Sanctuary is continuing to serve the nine-county region in numerous ways, from providing a safe place for survivors to live to educating the community. Vansauwa urges parents to speak with their teens, saying dating violence amongst that age group is more common than you think.

This Saturday they’ll be hosting a shop and share event through regional Kroger stores, with Vansauwa saying you’ll be able to donate to Sanctuary while doing your usual shopping.

After that, they’ll be looking for monthly sponsors to help them continue to offer programming and services to the community.

She says more educational information about teen dating violence will be posted on their social media pages. They’re always accepting of donations, of both money and physical items, and you can do so by calling 1-(800)-766-0000 or contact them through Facebook.
