Christian Co. SO charges Pembroke man with burglary

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Pembroke man with burglary after responding to a residential alarm on Overby Lane on January 30.

According to a news release, Sgt. Andy Spann responded to a home in the 1000 block of Overby Lane around midnight on January 30 and discovered 40-year-old Steven Douglas Pruitt allegedly standing at the rear of the garage, wearing a mask.

Pruitt’s vehicle was also on scene and deputies found a rifle in the front seat—Pruitt is reportedly a convicted felon and not able to possess a firearm. A search of the garage revealed burglary tools, including pry bars, knives and screwdrivers, and Pruitt was allegedly using those tools in an attempt to break into a vehicle inside the garage and steal it.

Pruitt was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, attempted theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana and possession of burglary tools.
