Drugs and alcohol are suspected as factors in an accident Friday night near West Seventh Street and Dawson Springs Road in Hopkinsville that sent one person to the hospital and another to jail.
The collision report from HPD says 64-year old Alvin Mason of Hopkinsville was attempting to make a left turn into the Copper Still just after 7 p.m. when he instead struck a westbound car operated by 66-year old Nancy Martin of Hopkinsville in a head-on collision.
Martin was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say Mason smelled of alcohol and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was taken first to Jennie Stuart for a blood draw and then to the Christian County Jail on charges of DUI and failure to maintain insurance.
