CBB Tuesday News and Notes

Kentucky vs. LSU

The Kentucky offense looked much better in Saturday’s win over Louisville. And, despite popular sentiment, it might be because the Cats slowed down rather than speeding up. The Cats hope to carry over the momentum from Saturday’s 86-63 win into Tuesday’s game against LSU. The Tigers are 12-1 on the season and are coming off an impressive win over Arkansas on Wednesday. LSU’s only loss this year was a four-point setback against Kansas State in the Cayman Islands on Nov. 23. Since then, LSU has won seven in a row. Pre-Game at 5:30 on 98.7 Lite FM.

Cardinals Return to ACC Play at Home vs. Syracuse

Louisville men’s basketball returns to ACC action for the remainder of the season with two home games this week, starting against Syracuse at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals concluded non-conference play Saturday with an 86-63 loss at rival Kentucky. Syracuse picked up a 79-65 home win over Boston College on Saturday. Louisville is 19-11 all-time against the Orange but has lost three of the last four. The Cardinals are 10-4 all-time against Syracuse at home.

Govs dominate ASUN opener against Queens

Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team shot 60.6 percent from the field – its highest in the digital record-keeping era – to earn its first-ever ASUN Conference win in a 62-43 victory against Queens, Monday, at Curry Arena. Yamia Johnson led Austin Peay in scoring for the fifth time this season with 15 points and was one of three Governors to reach double figures. On the defensive end, Austin Peay (6-5, 1-0 ASUN) held Queens (5-7, 0-1 ASUN) to 16 made field goals and a .348 field-goal percentage – the Govs’ second and fourth-best defensive performances of the season, respectively.
