Garrick McGee Named Wide Receivers Coach
University of Louisville football head coach Jeff Brohm has added Garrick McGee to his first coaching staff. McGee, who spent the 2022 season working with Brohm at Purdue, will coach the Louisville wide receivers. McGee is starting his second stint on the Louisville staff, having previously worked as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2014 and 2015 seasons under Bobby Petrino. With McGee coordinating the UofL offense, the Cards averaged 30 points per game in two seasons with a 17-9 overall record. McGee left Louisville to become the offensive coordinator at Illinois, where he worked for two seasons. He also worked two years at Missouri and Florida before joining Brohm’s staff at Purdue. In his only season at Purdue, McGee coached wide receiver Charlie Jones, who earned second team AP All-America honors after leading the country with 110 receptions and 1,361 yards receiving. Jones also finished the regular season with a team-high 12 touchdowns.

(Memphis, TN) — Football is back in Bluff City. The Liberty Bowl is taking place today in Memphis between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Kansas Jayhawks. Fans are flocking to the city for the game which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Officials have made adjustments to the gameday experience due to the city’s ongoing water issues. Over 400 porta-potties will be at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium along with plenty of bottled water.

(Undated) — Memphis dominated Utah State in the First Responder Bowl 38-10 in Dallas. Seth Henigan threw for 284 yards and three touchdowns while Jevyon Ducker scored twice on the ground. Memphis finishes the season 7-and-6 while Utah State ends 6-and-7. Meanwhile, Number-6 Tennessee and sixth-ranked Clemson square off in the Orange Bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Friday. The Vols finished the year 10-and-2 while the Tigers went 11-and-2. Kentucky clashes with Iowa in the Music City Bowl in Nashville on Saturday. The Wildcats and Hawkeyes ended the season with 7-and-5 records.

(Atlanta, GA) — New Georgia Tech head football coach Brent Key has completed his coaching staff. The Yellow Jackets are adding former Western Kentucky co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Josh Crawford as the program’s new wide receivers coach. Crawford had been a high school coach around Georgia before receiving his first college job as the outside receivers coach with the Hilltoppers in 2021.
