Will Levis Named CSC Academic All-America Division I Football Team Member of the Year

Kentucky senior quarterback Will Levis has been named the Academic All-America® Division I Football Team Member of the Year, announced by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) on Tuesday. He becomes the first football player and just the second student-athlete at Kentucky to win the prestigious award, which recognizes athletic and academic success. He joins swimmer Asia Seidt, who was named the CoSIDA At-Large Academic Female Team Member of the Year in 2020.

Mark Ivey and Deion Branch to Remain on Football Staff

University of Louisville football assistant coach Mark Ivey and Deion Branch will remain on staff, UofL head coach Jeff Brohm announced Tuesday. Ivey, a four-year coach for the Cardinals, will continue to be a part of the defensive staff next season, while Branch will resume his role as the Director of Player Development.

(New Orleans, LA)  — The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers wrap up their 2022 season against South Alabama in the New Orleans Bowl at Caesars Superdome tonight.  The Hilltoppers went 8-and-5 overall and finished in second place in Conference USA with a 6-and-2 conference mark.  Western Kentucky lost its only other game against South Alabama 31-24 in September of 2013.  Tonight’s game kicks off at 8:00PM Central time.  Pre-Game at 7 on Newsradio 95.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.

Juwuan Jones Becomes Three-Time Academic All-American

For the third-consecutive season, WKU defensive end Juwuan Jones has been named an Academic All-American. Including Jones, the program has had eight Academic All-Americans all-time. Earlier this season, Jones made the Conference USA All-Academic team for the third time in his career and was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. He boasts a 4.00 GPA in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration and is a two-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and member of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. In 13 games this season, Jones compiled 39 tackles, three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two hurries and an interception and a fumble recovery. Jones’ name appeared on the Academic All-American Second Team. He is one of three representatives from Conference USA, and one of six defensive linemen in the entire country to be honored at the Division I level.

ASUN-WAC announces conference games, Govs unveil complete 2023 football slate

Five home games, the program’s first-ever trips to Texas and Utah, and a game against an in-state FBS rival highlight the 2023 Austin Peay State University football schedule, presented Tuesday in conjunction with the release of the first ASUN-Western Athletic Conference football slate. Austin Peay’s 2023 schedule features six teams that have qualified for the FCS Playoffs since 2017 and five teams that have qualified in the past two seasons. The only FCS teams on the Govs schedule that have not qualified for the FCS Playoffs in the past five years are North Alabama – who just completed its first postseason-eligible season in 2022 – and Lindenwood and Utah Tech – who are ineligible for the FCS Playoffs during their transition to the subdivision. For the Govs’ home 2023 opener, ETSU finally makes the return trip from the 2019 meeting when they travel to Fortera Stadium on Sept. 16.
