Two arrested for felony wanton endangerment after child dropped off at empty home

Two Hopkinsville residents were arrested on felony charges Thursday afternoon after a small child was dropped off at a Talbert Drive residence with no one home.

The five-year old male was dropped off by the school bus, according to the Hopkinsville police report, which says it was the mother’s intent for the boy to be dropped there, even though he did not have a guardian there or any way to get inside.

A neighbor that lived upstairs picked the child up after he had been out in the cold for an extended period of time, according to police.

The mother and her boyfriend, 24-year old Kourdja Wallace and 21-year old Adraius Beard of Hopkinsville, later arrived and the report says there was a toddler lying in the back seat of the car with no type of child restraint device.

A computer check also showed Wallace was allegedly driving with a suspended license.

She was charged with criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving with a suspended license and failure to use a child restraint device. Beard was charged with felony wanton endangerment.
