While December is undoubtedly the month of shopping, the season is also about giving—and the United Way of the Pennyrile and the Warm the Children program are asking the public to consider donating to their causes for Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday follows the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and it’s a time of generosity and support for local agencies that work to make local communities better for everyone, especially those most in need. United Way campaign co-chair Lucas Stagner says all money donated to the United Way stays locally and supports their 19 partner agencies in Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell counties.
He says some of those agencies include Sanctuary, Inc., the Aaron McNeil House, Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center, Dyslexia Association of the Pennyrile, and many more.
Warm the Children Coordinator and Kiwanian Nikki Chambers says they take donations all year round, and all money raised goes to providing local children with warm clothing during the winter.
She says if you know a child in need of the program, you can contact her to get them placed on the list, though they typically work with the Salvation Army and school system to find those most in need.
Donations can be made at the United Way of the Pennyrile or Kiwanis Club of Hopkinsville websites, as both initiatives work to make the world a better place.
