Men’s Soccer Falls to Pittsburgh in NCAA Sweet 16

Kentucky men’s soccer (15-1-5, 5-0-3 Sun Belt) ended its 2022 campaign with a heartbreaking 1-2 Sweet 16 loss to Pittsburgh (11-4-5, 3-2-3 ACC) on Sunday at The Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. After receiving the top overall No. 1 seed for the first time and first-round bye, Kentucky made history as the only undefeated NCAA Division I men’s soccer program in the nation up until this point. Sunday’s defeat was preceded by an unbeaten regular season, resulting in the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season title, and a victorious conference tournament with the Cats winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament trophy.

Kentucky Seeded 12th in NCAA Tournament, Hosts Opening Weekend

For the 18th time in 18 years under head coach Craig Skinner, the University of Kentucky volleyball team was selected to compete in the NCAA Volleyball Championship, as announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday night. Kentucky earned the No. 12 overall national seed and will be a host site for the first and second rounds this weekend in Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. Joining UK in Lexington will be Western Kentucky, Bowling Green and Loyola-Chicago. Kentucky has reached the NCAA Tournament 24 times now in program history, including 2020-21 when the Wildcats won the NCAA National Championship, becoming the first Southeastern Conference team to win the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The SEC’s automatic qualifying spot went to Florida by virtue of a head-to-head point-scoring tiebreak with Kentucky. Other than UF and UK, the SEC got seven teams into the big dance including Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee and LSU. The seven SEC teams was the most of any conference in the country.

Louisville Earns No. 2 Overall Seed and Will Host Samford in NCAA First Round

The No. 4-ranked University of Louisville was named as the No. 2 overall seed and has drawn Samford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and will host Samford, Tennessee and Purdue on Friday Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena. Tentative times are listed as Tennessee versus Purdue at 4 p.m. ET and Louisville versus Samford at 7 p.m. The winners of the first round will play on Saturday with match time to be determined.
