Flags are being ordered to half-staff to honor former Kentucky Governor John Y. Brown Jr. Brown’s passing at the age of 88 was announced yesterday.
Current Governor Andy Beshear released a statement calling Kentucky’s 55th governor a remarkable leader who made the commonwealth a better place.
Brown visited Hopkinsville in 1984 as he ran an unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate and talked about the successes he achieved in the governor’s mansion.
He served as Kentucky’s governor from 1979-1983.
Beshear ordered flags at all state offices to half-staff until sunset on the day of Brown’s interment.
