Turner Named ACC Co-Specialist of the Week
University of Louisville placekicker James Turner was named the ACC Co-Specialist of the Week. Turner equaled a school record by kicking four field goals in Louisville’s 25-10 win over NC State on Saturday. The native of Saline, Mich., became the first UofL kicker to boot four field goals in a game twice during a career as he also made four at home in a loss to Virginia last season. The junior became the fifth kicker in school history to kick four field goals in a game. Turner has connected on 19-of-21 field goals this season, two shy of tying the school mark for field goals in a season.
Chaussee Named ACC Player of the Week for Third Straight Week, Fourth Overall
Louisville’s Claire Chaussee earned her third consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award. Chaussee led fourth-ranked Louisville with 13 kills in the No. 4 Cards’ sweep of No. 7 Pitt on Senior Night. The Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native recorded her 20th match with double digit kills and also had three aces and three digs. Chaussee shined in the third set against the Panthers, recording two of her three aces and three of her 13 kills – the final kill securing the match for Louisville. Louisville has a chance to clinch a share of the 2022 ACC Volleyball Championship this week. They would clinch at least a share of the league title with a win over Notre Dame on Wednesday. Pitt must win its last two matches against Georgia Tech (Nov. 23) and Boston College (Nov. 26) to earn a share of the championship. The ACC volleyball champion is determined based on the regular-season record, as there is no ACC volleyball tournament.
Jones Earns Academic All-District Honors
WKU defensive lineman Juwuan Jones has been recognized for his outstanding academic achievement by being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
Awards for Cats Continue
Senior quarterback Will Levis and senior punter Colin Goodfellow have been named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by the College Sports Communicators, it was announced today. The award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Levis has also been named to the midseason watch list for the 2022 College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Year Trophy, it was announced by the CFPA on Tuesday.
Six Governors named to CSC Academic All-District® Football Team
Austin Peay State University football student-athletes Nick Carozza, CJ Evans Jr., Drae McCray, Ethan Myers, Maddux Trujillo, and Harrison Wilkes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Football Teams, which was announced Tuesday.
Five Racers Earn OVC Postseason Accolades
Five members of the Murray State football team were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference Tuesday during the reveal of the league’s annual postseason awards. Levi Nesler, Eric Samuta, Taylor Shields and Cade Shupperd were all named to the All-OVC second team, while Cody Goatley was named to the All-Newcomer team. The award was the of their careers for Shields and Shupperd, while it was the third All-OVC accolade for both Nesler and Samuta. The senior duo joins Eddie McFarland (1975-77), Ronnie Merritt (1995-97), DeAngelo Nelson (2007-09), Casey Brockman (2010-12) and Malik Honeycutt (2018, 2020-21) as the only Racers to ever be named All-OVC on three separate occasions.
Antoine Williams named a finalist for Stats Perform Buck Buchanan Award
Austin Peay State University linebacker Antoine Williams was named a finalist for the 2022 Stats Perform FCS Buck Buchanan Award, Wednesday. Williams is one of 30 players named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is annually presented to the national defensive player of the year in college football’s Division I subdivision. This is the fourth-consecutive season and the fifth time in program history that Austin Peay has had a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award. Koby Perry was a finalist in 2021 and Kordell Jackson was a finalist in 2020 and 2019, posting a program-best sixth-place finish for the award in 2019. Jaison Williams was also named a finalist during the 2017 season.
Isenbarger Earns Academic All-District Honors
Fifth-year middle hitter Katie Isenbarger was tabbed Academic All-District from Western Kentucky, College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), announced on Tuesday. She is the first Hilltopper named to the list for her academic and athletic achievements since Paige Briggs earned District Two honors in Spring of 2021.

Four Govs volleyball players named to CSC Academic All-District Teams
The College Sports Communicators (CSC), previously the College Sports Information Directors of America, named four Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball student-athletes to its 2022 Academic All-District© Women’s Volleyball Teams, Tuesday. Junior middle blocker Maggie Keenan, senior setter Kelsey Mead, senior right-side hitter Mikayla Powell, and senior right-side hitter Tegan Seyring were named to the NCAA Division I Academic All-District© Women’s Volleyball Teams.
Manning Jr. named finalist for Stats Perform Doris Robinson Award
For the first time in program history, Austin Peay State University’s football team has a finalist for the Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, with Chukwuemeka Manning Jr. receiving the ASUN Conference’s nomination, Wednesday.
CJ Evans Jr. earns ASUN All-Academic Team honors
Austin Peay State University student-athlete CJ Evans Jr. was named to the 2022 ASUN Conference Football All-Academic team, the league Wednesday. A Mobile, Alabama native, Evans Jr. is a junior running back that is majoring in accounting with a 3.68 grade-point average. Evans Jr. was also named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® for the first time in his career, Tuesday. On the field, Evans Jr. played in all 11 games and made nine starts for Austin Peay. He led the Governors and ranked sixth in the ASUN with 641 rushing yards, he also led Austin Peay running backs and ranked 19th in the conference with six rushing touchdowns. Evans Jr. led the Govs in rushing four times in 2022, including a career-best 104 yards against Presbyterian. He also added a pair of touchdowns against the Blue Hose and matched that mark with two more scores against Murray State. Evans Jr. ran for a 62-yard touchdown against the Racers, it was the longest touchdown run by a Gov last season and was the third 60-yard scoring run of his career.
