UK Athletes Tie School Record for Graduation Rate

University of Kentucky student-athletes tied the school record for Graduation Success Rate in the annual report issued Tuesday by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. UK’s NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR), a four-year composite statistic for the freshman classes of 2012-13 through 2015-16, was 92 percent. That tied the record set in each of the past two years, continuing UK Athletics’ streak of breaking or tying the mark every year since the NCAA began tracking the statistic in 2005. In addition to tying the school record, Kentucky’s GSR of 92 percent is three points above the Division I national average of 89 percent.

University of Louisville student-athletes achieved a department-record 92% Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the latest report released Tuesday by the NCAA. Louisville’s 92% GSR beats the school’s previous best mark of 91% achieved in each of the previous two years. The GSR was developed 18 years ago to account for transfers, including mid-year enrollees, into the university who graduate and those who leave in good academic standing. The most recent report accounts for freshmen who entered in the 2015-16 academic year.  Louisville’s GSR has risen by nearly 30% since reporting began 18 years ago. Twenty-two Cardinal programs attained a GSR of 78 or better in the most recent report, with 15 programs achieving a 90 or higher. Eight programs – baseball, men’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s basketball, field hockey, women’s golf, women’s lacrosse and volleyball – recorded a perfect 100 mark.

WKU Athletics Achieves Second Highest Graduation Success Rate in Program History

WKU Athletics ha, reached its second highest Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in program history. WKU posted an overall GSR of 86, second only to last year’s mark of 87. In four of the last five GSR reports, WKU has achieved a mark of 85 or higher. Six programs achieved perfect GSR scores of 100, while eight programs record a 90 or above. Volleyball extended its streak of perfect GSR scores to 17 years and has posted a perfect score every year the program has been eligible to report. Women’s tennis posted a perfect GSR score for the eighth straight season and for the 10th time in program history. Women’s soccer and women’s basketball also posted perfect scores in five straight years, and it marked soccer’s 11th perfect score since 2001. The 100 mark was women’s basketball’s seventh all-time perfect score. Women’s golf achieved a perfect score for the fourth straight year and has been perfect five times in program history. Men’s golf posted a perfect score the second straight year.
