Colonels Season Showed Positives Heading Into Offseason

It is no secret that ending your season with a 54-16 loss sucks. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth and certainly does not leave the best impression in peoples minds.

However, it does not reflect that progress nor the returning mindset and talent of a team.

Christian County might have lost big to Owensboro, though I will point out after the first quarter it was a 19-16 score, but that doesn’t mean they did not have a much improved season.

They won THREE games, and yes I put three because they beat Caldwell on the field, for the first time since 2018.

The Colonels scored on all but two opponents and showed the ability to score on anyone, they just sometimes kept themselves from doing so.

Now comes an offseason where they will return a very good amount of talent, and have the mindset of knowing they are capable of competing in more games, with more teams, and possibly surprising people next season.

Their schedule and their offseason will both play critical roles in doing that.

I caught up with interim head coach Zach Self and we talked about Owensboro, but we talked a whole lot more about what this team accomplished this season, and what he believes they can accomplish next season.
