Arts Council visits Rotary, talks updates and programming

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from the Pennyroyal Arts Council at Tuesday’s meeting.

Executive Director Margaret Prim says the Arts Council and the Alhambra Theatre continue to bring fun shows, artistic performances and family friendly events to Hopkinsville, just as they for years and will continue to do so.  She says during the prior season they say thousands of visitors, hosted numerous shows and welcomed many people from out of town.

Prim says ticket sales have been up at the Alhambra, and that helps them greatly balance the cost of hosting shows and musical acts.

She says during the end of December, start of January, they will be doing some renovations at the theater—such as updating the dressing rooms.

The theater sees over 50,000 patrons each year, along with 15,000 school children, and Prim says it wouldn’t be possible without the support and tremendous generosity of the community, who remain willing to visit the Alhambra.  Next year will be a big one, as the theater will be celebrating its 95th birthday.
