Local clerks ready for Election Day

Tuesday is General Election Day and local county clerks are hopeful for a good turnout with countywide races and two constitutional amendments on the ballot.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. across Kentucky Tuesday and anyone standing in line at 6 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

In Christian County there will be 16 voting centers that County Clerk Mike Kem says will allow any registered voter to cast their ballot.

Those centers are Bruce Convention Center, the courthouse, senior center, Oak Grove Community Center, Indian Hills Elementary, New Barren Springs Church, New Palestine Baptist Church, Friendship House, Sinking Fork Baptist Church, Pembroke Baptist Church, Crofton City Hall, South Christian Elementary, Walnut Street Center, Concord Baptist Church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church and Hopkinsville Middle School.

Kem says increased poll worker pay helped them recruit plenty of folks to oversee those voting centers.

Todd County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan says they’ve stuck with their 13 traditional precincts and anyone with questions about where they should vote can call her office.

There will be seven voting centers in Trigg County—Cerulean Fire Department, East Golden Pond Fire Department, the EOC, South Road Fire Department, Trigg County Recreation Complex, Trigg-Lyon Fire Department and The Way.

We’ll have live election coverage beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday on the WHOP Family of Stations and streaming on our websites.
