A second Hopkinsville man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Fort Campbell soldier August 13 at a party on Kenny Stratton Road near Olmstead in Logan County.
Hopkinsville police served 25-year old Laotis Buckley of Hopkinsville with a warrant for complicity to murder.
It alleges that Buckley was in the passenger seat of a vehicle driven by 21-year old Jaquavon Poindexter of Hopkinsville when Poindexter fatally shot 20-year old Joshua Burks, who was a Fort Campbell soldier.
Buckley is accused of firing 11 shots from another gun, with three bullets hitting a vehicle belonging to Burks.
Weeks later, a juvenile who was in the car with Poindexter and Buckley on the morning of the crime was in a vehicle stopped by Hopkinsville police on September 6. A gun near that minor was confiscated and it was a ballistics match to the shell casings recovered at the murder scene, according to a warrant.
Further investigation led to Poindexter and Buckley being charged.
