United Way of the Pennyrile gives campaign update

The Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got an update from the United Way of the Pennyrile Tuesday, which is approaching the half-way mark of their fundraising campaign.

It was an exciting meeting, with friendly competition and fundraising, in the name of supporting the 19 partner agencies of the United Way, which all make a big impact in the community. Executive Director Betsy Bond says its thanks to organizations and individuals like Rotary and Kiwanis that they are able to support those agencies.

Co-chairs Lucas Stagner and Whitney Stewart gave the campaign update, saying they’ve raised $311,080 so far, which is roughly 43 percent of their goal.

The Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center is one of the partner agencies, and Director Candra Barnett says they provide an invaluable service to children in the community, and one of the ways they can continue to do that is through the United Way.

Just over $1,000 was raised at the meeting itself, and the individual campaign divisions gave updates on how their fundraising efforts are progressing.
