Louisville Ranked #7 in Preseason AP Poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The 2022-23 women’s basketball season is right around the corner and the Louisville women’s basketball team will be ranked No. 7 heading into the campaign as the Associated Press announced its preseason poll Tuesday afternoon. It is the eighth-straight season Louisville will be ranked in the Top-10 in the inaugural preseason poll. The Cardinals are the highest-ranked team in ACC and are coming off a successful 2021-22 campaign. It is the eighth-straight season the Cardinals are ranked in the Top-10 in the preseason poll.
Racers Fourth; Young All-Valley In Preseason Polls
The Murray State women’s basketball team will begin its inaugural season in the Missouri Valley Conference picked fourth and received two first-place votes in the annual preseason poll, the league announced Tuesday. In addition, junior Katelyn Young was selected to the six-person Preseason All-Missouri Valley team.
Women’s Basketball announces home tip times for inaugural ASUN Conference season
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball announced its tipoff times for its 13 home games during its inaugural season in the ASUN Conference and the final season in the Winfield Dunn Center. The Governors begin their 2022-23 campaign with an exhibition against Tusculum and the regular-season opener against Cumberland, both games tipoff at 6 p.m. The Govs tipoff a pair of December nonconference games against Gardner-Webb and UNC Asheville at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Austin Peay is then scheduled to play its ASUN Conference home opener against Stetson at 2 p.m., before hosting a 5:30 p.m. game against Jacksonville State. Austin Peay is scheduled to tipoff at 3 p.m. in the remainder of its Saturday ASUN contests against Kennesaw State, Queens, Jacksonville, and Lipscomb. The Governors will tipoff at 6 p.m. in the rest of their weekday home conference games against Liberty, North Florida, and Central Arkansas.
WKU Hilltopper Basketball Announces Television and Tip Times
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Hilltopper Basketball’s initial broadcast schedule includes national broadcasts or digital streaming options for almost every game in the 2022-23 season, with only one road game broadcast still to be announced. The Hilltoppers are scheduled to play seven games on CBS Sports Network, two games on ESPN linear networks, four games on Stadium and three on FloHoops in the Cayman Islands Classic. The remainder of the schedule will be played on ESPN+ or ESPN3 with locally televised games to still be determined. The home opener against Kentucky State on November 12 will not be televised. The Hilltoppers are scheduled to compete in seven of Conference USA’s 15 regular-season games slated for CBS Sports Network. The C-USA Men’s Basketball Championship semi-finals and championship game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network for the sixth straight year. WKU’s home game against Florida Atlantic on January 16 is one of five games set to air on ESPNU for the league. The Hilltoppers will play on ESPN2 at the Louisville Cardinals on December 14 as well. WKU’s road game against South Carolina on December 22 is the only game with a broadcast option still to be determined.
Kentucky Leads Nation with 27 Players on NBA Opening-Day Rosters
27 former Wildcat student-athletes appear on NBA opening-day rosters. The total of 27 players on NBA opening-day rosters (including two-way and inactive players) that played and finished their college basketball careers at Kentucky is more than any other college program in the country. Duke, with 24, is the only other school with more than 20 players in the NBA. The list was compiled from the NBA’s official opening-day roster list. Of the 17 NBA franchises featuring a Wildcat, eight have multiple Kentucky players. Detroit and Sacramento each have a trio of Wildcats on their roster while the Clippers, Lakers, Heat, Knicks, Hornets and Trail Blazers each have two.
Cards Play to 1-1 Draw versus East Tennessee State
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 11th-ranked University of Louisville men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against East Tennessee State on Tuesday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. Tuesday’s match was the last non-conference contest of the regular season for Louisville (8-3-3), with two ACC matches remaining on the schedule.
