>>Braves’ Tyler Matzek Undergoing Tommy John

(Atlanta, GA)  — The Braves are going to be without one of their bullpen arms for longer than they hoped.  After being declared out for the postseason due to discomfort in his elbow, it has been determined that Tyler Matzek is undergoing Tommy John surgery.  The 31-year-old struggled down the stretch of the regular season with a 4.76 earned run average in the month of September.  Matzek helped Atlanta win the World Series last season.  The left-hander gave up just three runs over 13 postseason appearances.

>>Wainwright Frustrated By End of Season Performance

(St. Louis, MO)  — Adam Wainwright is apologizing to fans and teammates on social media.  The Cardinals pitcher tweeted that he “owed an explanation” to the team after struggling at the end of the season.  Wainwright detailed some of the issues he had with his delivery during the last month of the year, adding that he didn’t watch enough film to catch the mistakes that he was making.  He went 2-and-3 with a 7.22 ERA over his final six starts of the season.  The 41-year-old still has not decided whether he will retire or not.
