>>Cubs Sweep Season Series With Phillies

(Chicago, IL)  — The Cubs are celebrating a sweep in their season series with the Phillies.  Chicago topped Philadelphia 2-0 to take the season finale in the Windy City.  Javier Assad was credited with the victory after pitching five scoreless innings.  Patrick Wisdom led the way at the plate for the Cubs after going two-for-three with a walk, two doubles and an RBI.  Chicago is now 70-and-86.  Adrian Sampson takes the hill for Chicago against Cincinnati today.

(Cumberland, GA)  — With just six games remaining in the season, and one game separating them in the standings, the Braves welcome the Mets in for a three-game series that begins tonight.  Atlanta is slated to send left-hander Max Fried to the mound for the start.  He’ll be opposed by New York ace Jacob deGrom.  The Braves are coming off a series victory over the Washington Nationals, but dropped the finale.  The Mets split their two-game set with the Marlins.  New York is 98-and-58 and leads Atlanta by one game for the top spot in the NL East.

(St. Louis, MO)  — The Cardinals begin a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium tonight.  The 90-and-66 Cardinals have already clinched the NL Central after beating Milwaukee earlier this week, while Pittsburgh is 59-and-97.  Jack Flaherty takes the mound for St. Louis tonight.  First pitch is set for 7:15PM.
