Fairview assault suspects take pleas after victim won’t cooperate with

The two suspects indicted in connection with the June 16 assault of a man in Farivew pled guilty to misdemeanor charges Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court as the victim in the case has refused to cooperate with the prosecution.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jerad Smith says the deals have 47-year old Stacy Botts of Elkton pleading guilty to fourth-degree assault and 44-year old Eddie Mosley of Hopkinsville pleading guilty to complicity to the same charge. Both deals come with a 12-month sentence that will be probated.

Botts and Moseley allegedly went to the home of Botts’ ex-wife’s boyfriend in Fairview and attacked him with a metal pipe and bat, causing serious physical injuries that sent the victim to the hospital.

Smith says the commonwealth agreed to the reduced charges when the victim wouldn’t talk to them.

Judge John Atkins accepted the deals and told Smith to make efforts to be sure the victim is aware of the arrangements.

Both men will also be required to pay court costs.

Mosley is still facing additional charges related to a pursuit in Todd County that led to his arrest.
