Christian Fiscal Court accepts grants, hears reports

Christian Fiscal Court heard several reports and applied for grants during its final meeting of July Tuesday morning.

Magistrates approved an emergency management inter-local agreement with the City of Hopkinsville that Deputy Emergency Management Director Lucas Stagner says is a routine document that allows the city and county to assist each other and to be reimbursed by FEMA when applicable.

Meanwhile, court voted to accept about $200,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says will be used to clean out streams in areas affected by the December 11 tornado that caused heavy damage in the south end of the county.

Motorists in downtown Hopkinsville are likely to encounter equipment and other vehicles involved with the re-roofing project at the Historic Christian County Courthouse and Treasurer Walter Cummings says Court Street is already closed.

Magistrates also approved a memorandum of understanding to accept a $13,000 Justice Assistance Grant to help pay the salary of the drug court coordinator.
