Suspect sought in November shooting incident arrested

One of the suspects sought in connection with the November 28 fatal shooting incident on East Ninth Street near the Princess Theater has been arrested by the Hopkinsville Police Department.

Twenty-one-year-old Zamarius Humphries of Hopkinsville was booked in the Christian County Jail Monday morning and had been sought on warrants for attempted first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The shooting happened following a party at the Princess and a warrant for a co-defendant says Humphries pulled a gun on 27-year old Jaquavian Spencer and that Spencer then pulled his own gun and shot Humphries in the neck.

That’s when 22-year old Deovion Day of Cadiz allegedly began firing at Spencer and struck Aniyah Collins, who was in her car attempting to leave the area. His gunfire also hit 30-year old Gteria Acree, who was in a parking lot at the corner of East Eighth and Virginia Street.

Acree and Humphries required treatment at area hospitals and Collins died from her injuries.

Hopkinsville police continue to ask for the public’s help to locate Spencer, who’s sought for first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Anyone knowing his whereabout should call 270-890-1300.

Day had already been arrested and is charged with murder.
