Attorneys going over evidence in Princess Theater fatal shooting case

Proceedings were continued to August for murder suspect Deovion Day in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday, to allow more time for attorneys to go over all the evidence in the case.

Day appeared alongside defense attorney Mark Gilbert, who was standing in for Day’s usual attorney, and he agreed with the Commonwealth that more time is needed to go over the large amount of evidence in the case.

Judge Andrew Self set another pretrial conference for August 17. A Hopkinsville police arrest warrant alleges that Day fatally shot Aniyah Collins and shot and injured 30-year old Gteria Acree of Hopkinsville.

An arrest warrant says 21-year old Zamarius Humphries pulled a gun on 27-year old Jaquavian Spencer after an event at the Princess Theater in November of this year and that Spencer then pulled his own gun and shot Humphries in the neck.

That’s when Day allegedly began firing at Spencer and struck Collins, who was in her car attempting to leave. His gunfire also hit Acree, who was in a parking lot at the corner of East Eighth and Virginia Street.
