The transition to a new system of issuing Kentucky driver licenses and state identification cards will be complete by June 27, when the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assumes that responsibility.
According to a news release, only eight counties remain to transition from the clerk’s offices to the Transportation Cabinet, and that’s expected to happen quickly and smoothly. Come the end of June, all license issuance and renewal in Kentucky – including REAL ID verified credentials – will be vested in the KYTC Driver Licensing Regional Offices.
KYTC regional offices are currently operating locally in Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Bowling Green, Mayfield, Owensboro and Paducah, with many more across the state.
People can also renew licenses and do other actions online through drive.ky.gov
