Kentucky reported the lowest unemployment rate in the state’s history Thursday at 3.9 percent.
Unemployment records have been maintained for about 45 years and Governor Andy Beshear says it’s proof the economy is thriving.
He believes Kentucky has to be prepared for a growing population, schools have to prepare students for what comes after graduation and healthcare access must improve.
Governor Beshear believes the state’s economy and job market have recovered from record high rates two years ago at the beginning of the pandemic faster than most expected.
That 3.9 percent was down a tenth of a point from March and down eight-tenths a year ago and the U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate for April 2022 was 3.6 percent.
