Local attorney files to run for second Christian Co. Family Court judge seat

The recently created second Christian County Family Court judge position will be on the ballot in November and a local attorney has already notified the state of her intent to run.

Katherine Demps, who is a private attorney at the Hicks and Demps Law Office in Hopkinsville, filed paperwork recently with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance indicating she plans to run in the non-partisan race.

Speaking with WHOP Tuesday, Demps says a second Family Court judge is badly needed, and she’s ready to dive in and help get the caseload lessened while making sure justice is happening as needed.

She says Family Court is not like what you see on television, and many who appear there are in need of help.

Demps says she will strive for just results in every case and hopes people will keep in her mind when they head to the polls.

Demps is a 1996 graduate of the University of Kentucky Law School and she also achieved her bachelor’s degree from UK.

Demps is currently the only candidate to file any paperwork, with the filing deadline set for June 7.
