A Hopkinsville man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning at Fort Campbell Boulevard and I-24.
A collision report from HPD says 51-year old Russell Roppel of Clarksville was northbound and stopped at the red light at the I-24 off-ramp. As the light turned green, Roppel accelerated and was rear-ended by a northbound car driven by 32-year old Quinnton Thompson of Hopkinsville.
Thompson told police he must have fallen asleep at the wheel prior to the collision and witnesses said he had been swerving before the accident.
EMS transported Thompson to Tennova Health in Clarksville for treatment of chest pain. Roppel complained of leg pain, but refused a trip to the hospital.
