Pennyrile avoids worst of severe weather

The southern Pennyrile region appears to have dodged the bullet regarding the worst of the severe weather Wednesday afternoon, with only minimal damage reports.

Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham reported a tree and wires down in the areas of South Virginia and East 22st Street and a tree down in the area of the old Square Deal Market location.

Only a couple trees were blown down in Trigg County, according to Emergency Management Director David Bryant, while Todd County Emergency Management Director Daniel Smith had no reports of damage.

Muhlenberg County was under multiple tornado warnings through the afternoon and evening, but Emergency Management Director Keith Putnam said they too only had reports of a couple trees blown down.

About 1,900 Pennyrile Electric members lost power during the storms and crews were quickly dispatched to get the lights back on.

There were no reports of any storm-related injuries in the southern Pennyrile.
