Motion for bond modification to be filed in Trigg murder case

A motion for bond modification and an additional attorney will soon appear in the case against Montie Streeval, the man charged in connection with the shooting death of 25-year-old Cameron Phillips.

Public defender Cody Hooks informed the court Wednesday in Trigg Circuit Court that public defender Eric Bearden will likely be entering his appearance as additional counsel in the case, and that he intends to file a request for bond modification soon.

Judge Jamus Redd said he will hear any motions a pretrial hearing that he set for May 11. Streeval is set to go to trial in August.

As previously reported, Phillips’ body was found August 6 in a wood line near Old Rocky Point Road. Kentucky State Police Detective David Dick testified during a preliminary hearing recently and says investigation determined Phillips died from a single gunshot wound to the head.  Streeval allegedly admitted to driving Phillips to Trigg County for a drug deal.

Detective Dick says Streeval has neither admitted nor denied killing Phillips. Streeval is charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
