PADD hears update on Long-Term Recovery Committee efforts

The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors met Monday and heard from the Long-Term Recovery Committees that they formed in response to the devastating December tornadoes to help those still in need from that event.

Organizer Freddie Mayes of Muhlenberg County says many families and individuals are still attempting to get their lives back on track since then, and the committee is focused on helping them address their unmet needs.

He says they’ve recently received grant money to allow them to invest in a warehouse where emergency supplies can be stored, in the event of a disaster.

Mike Duncan of Hopkins County says they’re in the stages of organizing where they’re looking acquire case managers, construction supervisors and more, but these things take time.

PADD Executive Director Jason Vincent spoke on recent passing of Workforce Programs Coordinator Juliet Allen, saying she was someone with everyone’s best interests truly at heart and she will be deeply missed.

Multiple legislators spoke during the meeting, along with field representatives from the Offices of James Comer, Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, all giving an update on going ons in state and federal offices.
