Large fire reported in downtown Greenville

Fire damaged two buildings on Main Street in Greenville early Thursday morning and closed traffic to the downtown area for several hours.

The Greenville Police Department says firefighters were called to 103 East Main Cross just before 3 a.m. for a structure fire and the fire breached the wall of the upstairs at 101 East Main Cross, which is Corner Piece Café.

The Greenville Fire Department reported the initial structure fire to be a three-story commercial building.

Firefighters from Greenville, four other departments in Muhlenberg County, Madisonville and Ohio County responded to help with putting out the blaze.

There were no reports of injuries from the fire and cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
