Governor Andy Beshear is vetoing a bill that would have banned transgender women and girls from school sports teams.
The state legislature is expected to override Governor Andy Beshear’s veto next week.
The Human Rights Campaign says the bill threatens state colleges’ ability to participate in NCAA sports and tournaments because it violates NCAA rules.
The bill could also face challenges for violating Title Nine, as similar laws in West Virginia and Idaho have. Governors in Arizona and Oklahoma signed similar legislation into law last month.
