Sharpe St. murder suspects arraigned

Arraignment was held in Christian District Court Wednesday morning for the two suspects charged in connection with the October shooting death of 23-year old Adrian Acree at the intersection of Sharpe and Jones Street in Hopkinsville.

District Judge Lindsey Adams entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 24-year old Jaila Sherrod of and 23-year old Dekorian Daniel of Hopkinsville and scheduled their preliminary hearings for Wednesday of next week.

Sherrod asked for her bond to be reduced or for a pre-trial release, but Judge Adams left both of their bond amounts at half a million dollars.

Both suspects said they would be hiring their own private attorneys before next week.

Arrest warrants allege both helped plan the killing and that Sherrod drove Acree to where he’d be shot multiple times with a handgun by 25-year old Cortez Hairston, Jr.

Hairston remains at large and is sought on a warrant for murder. Anyone knowing his whereabouts should call HPD at 270-890-1300.
