Sanctuary, Inc. kicking off month of events for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month and Sanctuary, Inc. is gearing up for a month full of events to spread education and hope.

Executive Director Heather Lancaster appeared on WHOP Friday morning and says things kick-off with the Wear Your Teal initiative—teal is the color that represents the month, and it’s to show survivors that you support them.

On April 18, Sanctuary, Inc. will unveil a new community mural at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library that Lancaster says has been a group effort between local students and Leadership Hopkinsville.

She says the mural will be a reminder of hope and how if everyone came together, this could become an anti-violence community.

The mural presentation will take place at 4 p.m. that day—events and initiatives will continue throughout the month of April. More information can be found on the Sanctuary, Inc. Facebook page.
