Starting next week, several CSX railroad closings will begin to take place, which means the roads they cross will also be closed.
According to a news release from the City of Hopkinsville, the work set for March 23 is in advance of permanent streets closures for crossings located at East Fifth Street, East Sixth Street, East 11th Street and East 12th Street.
These closures are the result of Hopkinsville public safety discussions with the state and CSX that have taken place for years. Traffic studies were executed to minimize inconvenience while maximizing safety for residents.
Citizens are urged to stay alert for any equipment and personnel working in those areas and to keep an eye out for further information to come.
