Mike Walker withdraws from magistrate race

Mike Walker has announced that he will be withdrawing from the race for Christian County Fiscal Court magistrate in District 7.

According to a news release, Walker will be withdrawing from that race and throwing his support behind his once opponent, Russ Guffey, who is running as a Republican. Walker says he will continue to serve on the Christian County School Board—he is entering his second year in that seat, and his district is not on the ballot this year.

Walker says, “I had mixed emotions about entering the race initially. When I announced my candidacy for magistrate, there weren’t any other candidates who had yet filed. Russ Guffey entered the race and I believe him to be the man for the job. Guffey has my full support.”

He says as a school board member, there remains unfinished business that he wants to see through, particularly during a time of change in the county.

Guffey will still have an opponent in the magistrate race against Dave Hernandez, who has filed as a Democrat.
