Jarrod West scored a game-high 20 points as 11th-seeded Louisville built a 27-point lead and then held off a furious Georgia Tech rally for an 84-74 win in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament last night. The Cardinals-now 13-18-advance into a second-round matchup tonight against sixth-seeded Virginia at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Tipoff is at 8:30 pm.
The Bellarmine Knights beat Jacksonville University 77-72 in the Atlantic Sun Championship game in Louisville. Unfortunately for Bellarmine, they won’t play in the NCAA tournament because the program has not been Division One long enough. Regular-season Atlantic Sun champ Jacksonville State will go to the tournament instead.
