72nd Rotary Auction coming up in April

The WHOP Rotary Radio Auction gets underway in a little over a month and the club is already getting things in gear to prepare for the event.

Club members got their information packets, discussed planning and logistics for the week of the auction and were informed of any new rules or regulations that have cropped up since last year’s auction that raised nearly $398,000.  Andrew Wilson is the auction chair this year and while he did not set a fundraising goal, he did establish the theme of “A Volunteer Tradition”.

Rotary President Cody Noffsinger says the bulk of the money raised during the auction—which is set for April 18 through the 23—goes towards providing local students with a way to go to Hopkinsville Community College for free for two years.

He says they’ll be making announcements of some grants they’ll be gifting this year to local agencies during the auction.

The auction will begin at 6 p.m. each night and it will again air on Lite Rock 98.7 and online at lite987whop.com. All of the popular auction attractions will be back, including the diner, Boston butts and sweet shop.
