MLB cancels first two weeks of season after no new agreement

Major League Baseball’s lockout will continue Commissioner Rob Manfred said yesterday some regular season games will be cancelled after the owners and players could not reach a deal on a collective bargaining agreement. Manfred also emphasized that he is committed to getting to an agreement.

Meanwhile, the Players Association says players and fans are “disgusted, but sadly not surprised” that the ongoing lockout is forcing regular season games to be cancelled. In a statement, the union added that their priorities have always been promoting competition, providing fair pay to young players, and upholding the “integrity of our market system.”
