Christian Fiscal Court approves incentives for Rural King, housing developments

Christian Fiscal Court approved incentives Tuesday morning for the Rural King project at the Bradford Square Mall and for a new housing development on the south end of Pyle Lane.

A resolution was unanimously approved to establish a commercial incentive program for AJM, LLC, which is the company that plans to put a Rural King in the mall, while revitalizing the property for additional development.

Magistrates approved their traditional package for the investment, rebating 90 percent of increased property tax revenue over the next 12 years.

Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says incentives are a way to help bring new jobs and shopping options to the community.

In other action, magistrates approved a similar incentive for Bluegrass Park, LLC, which is constructing 54 homes on 41 acres of land on the south end of Pyle Lane in Hopkinsville, with Magistrate Darrell Gustafson saying it will be affordable housing in a housing-starved market.

He says this is the first phase of a 172 lot development and the first phase cost is approximately $80.9 million. The county will rebate 90 percent of increased property tax revenues to the county for the next 12 years.
