Tornado Watch until 11 a.m., Flood Watch until midnight

Severe weather and flooding are possible Tuesday in western Kentucky and middle Tennessee and problems will linger for much of the week.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 11 a.m. for all of western Kentucky and Montgomery and Stewart counties in middle Tennessee and the Flood Watch continues until midnight for all of our Kentucky and Tennessee counties.

Chris Noles with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during a conference call that severe weather will remain possible into the afternoon and evening hours today.

Two to three inches of rain is expected with today’s storm system, with locally higher amounts possible, and Noles says another system will bring more heavy rain to western Kentucky tomorrow night and Thursday and wintry weather to areas north and west of the region.

Damaging winds will be the primary threat with severe weather today, though tornadoes obviously cannot be ruled out. Gusty winds in the 30 to 35 mph range will be possible even outside of any thunderstorms.
