Pretrial hearing set in McHenry Street murder case

Another pretrial hearing was set for March in the case against Robert Torian, after his attorneys were not present in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.

Torian, who is accused in the 2019 shooting death of Terrill Moore, was set for a pretrial hearing Wednesday, but when his public defenders weren’t present either in the courtroom or via Zoom, Judge Andrew Self was reluctant to have a hearing without either of them present.  Torian expressed his frustration with his attorneys and the prolonged court process in general, saying he feels as though his rights have been violated.

Judge Self did as Torian requested and set another pretrial hearing for March 30, so Torian will have the chance to address his concerns with his lawyers present.

Eventually Judge Self requested that Torian be escorted from the room, as he continued to argue that he wasn’t getting the representation or fair proceedings he is entitled to, saying he’s been incarcerated for nearly three years—Torian is set to go to trial on June 6.

The original arrest warrant from Hopkinsville police says Torian and Moore had been in an argument while both were passengers in a vehicle on McHenry Street in August of 2019. Torian was in the back seat when he exited, opened the front passenger door and allegedly shot Moore in the head.
