CCHD urging healthy lifestyles in honor of Heart Health Month

February is Heart Health Month and the Christian County Health Department is encouraging people to practice healthy lifestyles to keep your hearts healthy.

Chloe Rager with the health department appeared on WHOP recently and says that more people struggle with heart related health issues than you would think—roughly half of Americans have hypertension, and only a portion of those have it managed.

She says exercise, healthy and nutritional eating can help manage high blood pressure, but the health department also offers several programs that can help even more, such as stopping smoking.

Rager says the department does more for the community than just deal with COVID-19, and as local numbers start to decline, they’re hopeful they can start getting back to those programs and services that keep Christian County a healthy place to live.
