CCHD says COVID cases could be declining locally

While COVID-19 incidences seem to be declining across the state, the Christian County Health Department says they’re still waiting for more data to confirm the decline locally.

Chloe Rager with the health department appeared on WHOP Tuesday morning and says they have seen a decrease in new cases locally, but they’re hesitant to confirm a decline just yet.  She says testing at the department was delayed due to weather, so they’re waiting for results to come back and testing to pick up as normal this week—but she says there has been at least a small decline in cases recently.

Rager says they continue to offer COVID-19 testing and vaccines at the health department throughout the week, and she does recommend people get the booster shot if they haven’t yet, because it has proven effective at keeping you from getting badly sick.

She reminded that the health department is unable to keep up with calling everyone in the community who tests positive for COVID, so she urged that anyone who tests positive or is sick to self-isolate for the recommended amount of time until your symptoms pass—don’t wait for the health department to tell you to.
