The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council recently announced the summary findings of a wage and skill survey conducted with regional manufacturers and industries.
Overall, Executive Director Carter Hendricks says the survey shows local industries that participated are starting employees at between 16 and 18 dollars per hour.
Regional industrial salaries top-out at $20-30 per hour based on job classification and experience.
Hendricks says the EDC was also pleased to see a recent survey showing Kentucky with a lower cost-of-living than neighboring Tennessee.
The 18 participating industries said they primarily advertise open job positions on social media, job boards, their website, and on the radio. They indicated they are interested in participating in job fairs, workforce programs, and with regional high schools.
