Elkton man arrested after foot pursuit

An investigation this week in Elkton led to a foot pursuit and arrest of a man on multiple charges.

Elkton Police Officer Jakop Smith and Sheriff’s Deputy David Hutcheson responded Monday night to a home in the 100 block of Sunset Drive for a man reported to be illegally staying in a residence and a search warrant was served early Tuesday morning, according to a news release.

Police reportedly located methamphetamine, marijuana, pills and a shotgun.

Officers made contact with 42-year old Dean Jones of Elkton outside the home and he allegedly took off on foot, running through several back yards before being caught at South Main and Sunset.

He was arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, criminal trespass and fleeing or evading police.

Elkton Police Sgt. Rodney Moberly, Officer John Webb and Deputy Dennis Brown also assisted in the incident.
