Some familiar names have filed to run for Hopkinsville City Council.
Incumbent Ward 1 Councilmember Natasha Francis filed for re-election and the Republican is opposed by Democrat Vance Smith.
Matthew Handy filed his paperwork to run for the seat in Ward 12 as a Republican, which is currently held by incumbent Democrat Phillip Brooks. Handy has run for that seat before, but this year, he will face Republican Elizabeth Draude in a primary election.
In Ward 8, Twyla Dillard filed as a Democrat—the seat is currently held by Republican incumbent Tom Johnson, who has not yet filed to seek reelection. Another Republican, Robert Meek, has filed to run for that office.
